“Boonville Mill” -- The Boonville Mill sits near the intersection of Hwy 601 and Main Street in Boonville, NC. Even at over 120 years old, the building stands strong, rocking with the rhythm of the machines inside that grind and sift the grain to make the best flour and corn meal I have ever had. The mill is run by four generations of the Phillips family, nearly a novelty in themselves, and some of the most gracious folks you will ever meet. They have been kind enough to let me document the mill and their family for the past couple of years, and I am honored to be counted as a friend. The general store that sits at the front of the property sells not only their products, but homemade treats made with their goods, and don’t miss the old fashioned cooler with bottled drinks, especially in the summer when it is hot. Be sure to tell them I sent you when you stop by.
