​Photographer, artist, author, and creative explorer Benita VanWinkle is an associate professor of art at High Point University in North Carolina, and earned her MFA from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois.

 

VanWinkle's award-winning photography has been recognized nationally and internationally at juried art exhibitions. 

 

Author of PLEASE REMAIN STANDING, an anthology of vintage American theaters releases in 2025.

 
VanWinkle works with many NC non-profits and is a former youth director at Brookstown United Methodist Church in Pfafftown. She lives with her husband, two rescued dogs, and her neighbor's horses and free range chickens over the back fence.
